George Carruth started his sculpting career at American Greetings fresh out of art school. In his spare time, he chiseled rocks along the shore of Lake Erie in Cleveland, Ohio. Enamored with their beauty, George's wife, Deb began showing his work at local art shows. Demand for George's art grew to the point he left his job, opened Carruth Studio with Deb as the business manager and traveled across the country selling his sculptures (winning numerous awards along the way). The national recognition George's work received inspired a customer to suggest George cast his sculptures so they could be enjoyed by millions of people rather than hundreds. George and Deb acted on the advice and over the past 30 years, Carruth Studio has cast millions of stones from hundreds of original designs, each with its own unique character. George and his studio of artisans continue to make fine art accessible to just about anyone through independent gift shops, galleries and garden centers across North America and Europe.Photo Caption: While most of George's sculptures are designed to be cast, he still carves large stones for fun and special commissions.
